My Tiger Lilly 'Affair'

Tiger Lilly - Half Moon, Putney - 3rd March 2014

Kerpow!
Stage lights went up, the band struck up, Tiger Lilly took to the mic and lit up the stage with her own glow and inner light....

Yep, Tiger Lilly http://www.tigerlillymusic.co.uk/ was back in London Town for the final date of her tour. Not just ANY venue though, it was the legendary Half Moon in Putney. http://www.halfmoon.co.uk/

The night was of an Oscars theme & everyone had embraced this. Lovely flowing dresses, sparkles, shimmers & shiny shoes.

So there she was.....Mic in hand, striking full length red dress, dark shiny hair cascading down, hot red lipstick & a twinkle in her eye..... This was going to be fun.....and it was!

The track 'Affair' was upbeat & funky & my favorite track of the night.
The lyrics ran through my mind, the bass ran through my soul, and Tiger Lilly sang it with passion & her band threw themselves into every note.     Here is the official video for >>> 'Affair' -Tiger Lilly   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5xyfcveF-So

I found my foot tapping, my head nodding and a huge smile on my face through the whole set.
There were sexy shimmers n shakes, moves  n grooves & good interaction including dedicating tracks to people who had come all the way from Leeds and other supporters in the audience.

Thoroughly enjoying each track I wondered in my mind why I seemed so mesmerized by her performance....

*Reason 1- I was near the front of the stage so it is easy to be in that zone & block off everything around me, it's a zone I like.
*Reason 2 - It was hard to take your eyes off Tiger Lilly, she looked sharp & stunning yet elegant.
*Reason 3 - Sounds good yet there is something different, a certain maturity in both her voice and performance shone through. It felt as if we got to hear & see the real 'her'. It was a pleasure to share in that.
*Reason 4 - The band was 'tight on the night'...they looked and sounded content together as a unit & sparked well off each other....
*Reason 5 - It was a smokin' hot performance!

We were humbly thanked. Thanked for coming out on a Monday night & for the support...but you know what? I'm glad I went out on that Monday night, glad I chose to stick with the plan, glad the plan came together....
I'm enjoying the direction her music is going in & also find her very inspiring in many aspects of life.
Looking forward to hearing more and more from Tiger Lilly and if you get the chance do go and see her.>>> http://www.tigerlillymusic.co.uk/ and follow her on Twitter -  @tigerlillytweet

Lianne Carroll is different!

Lianne Carroll is different!
I'm unable to really tell you how or in what way she is different, but she is different in a good way.
She has captured me with her unique sound & delivery. I guess you will have to listen to her to understand.
Lianne first came to my ears through my friend & singer/songwriter Luc Floreani. He shared a link on Facebook & basically I was hooked.
I had heard her before yet I did not know her name. An enthusiastic phone call was made to Luc to thank him for sharing the link. We had a good ramble & chat about real music & musicians. He filled me in on jazz awards won (incl Ronnie Scotts),  events held etc. Further to the conversation & scrolling through songs on You tube I listened to her more & more.
There were days when someone close to me was unwell, really unwell & I lay on the kitchen floor with 'Mercy Now' playing in my ears. My eyes burned, the tears rolled down my cheeks, I took deep gulping breaths....the song helped me through my emotions that I was unable to express at the time. It was comforting, calming & continues to re-ignite my strength when I feel weak. 'Mercy Now' > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1o1Hzz8r_00&list=FL-aJC8YyRzi8YkX-Cd1pi2Q
Her music is diverse, covering , jazz, soul, ballads, blues to name a few genres. A musician, songwriter, composer, singer, pianist, one who comes across as a romantic, appreciating the small things in life & using her natural God given talents & really tapping into her own soul so that we can feel it in ours.
My intention is to hear her 'live' sometime in the near future. I know in advance that my soul will be replenished by the soulful & jazz sounds, added to by Liannes humour coming through the songs, & also the great depth & feeling that exudes from the music & lyrical content.  Maybe you should just have a listen for yourself & see what you think, but she IS different, different in a really good way! THOUSAND EYES - Lifford

THOUSAND EYES- Lifford
This is Lifford Shilling (Shillingford).
He shared a recent a track of his.
I listened to it many times on many different levels.
He asked me what it was about this track in particular that I liked.
I responded in a tweet yet I felt, although I got the main part across to him, that I needed to write more about it.
So here I am writing more about it!

The track is called 'THOUSAND EYES'....
The artwork is a little bit spooky for someone like me, yet it is effective. It has certainly stayed in my mind, embedded in my mind.
Yet it is the track & the content & lyrics of the track that really catches me.
Liffords quality vocals & his varied sounds, his ability to adapt to many genres etc has excited me & many for years.
He has not let me down.
Yes, the musical infusion & way it gently pulls you through the song is quality & smooth. Verrrry smooth. It made me drift into a daydream land yet the lyrics kept pulling me back. I later found it running through my head.
The story that is being told seems one with depth & emotions. This is felt through Liffords tone.
He has a certain rawness, a good dose of emotional rawness in his vocals, a sort of angst &  passion yet delivered with fine control as only Lifford does.
I can visualize him singing it, parts with his eyes closed as he puts his hand on his head, eyes closed, and does the kind of 'rub rub thang' across his head. It seems to be something he does on tracks with extra and real emotions & when he's really feeling it. It seems to bring him alive further and kicks into his soul & thats when Lifford is at his best....
Have a listen to the track & do let him know your thoughts as he always appreciates feedback.and let's be honest, we all like a bit of feedback on things we do & put our time into.
I could ramble on about Lifford & his music for ages but I will save that for another day, until then please enjoy THOUSAND EYES & more his sounds. > https://soundcloud.com/dicenfire/thousand-eyes  & find him on Twitter @Liffordshilling
